As the year comes to a close, please join us for a Christmas Social on Saturday, December 10th, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Wai’olu Lounge at the Trump Waikiki Hotel. While we reflect upon the successes of the past year and start preparations for the new year, we want to have a social gathering to toast to a successful and exciting 2012. YDHI President Francis Choe to travel to YDA Convention
Representing the Young Democrats of Hawaii, President Francis Choe will be attending the 2011 Young Democrats of America’s Annual Convention in Louisville, Kentucky from July 27 – July 30th.
Elected in 2010, Francis has worked hard to build the Young Democrats of Hawaii (YDHI) chapter. Working collaboratively with the Executive Committee and reorganizing the leadership structure, Francis has established a strong foundation for YDHI. With that in mind, Francis heads to Louisville with one purpose in mind, working collaboratively with other Young Democrats to build a robust national YDA organization that is capable of meeting the various needs of our organization. Furthermore, Francis will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the YDA Executive Committee as well as other State Presidents (or delegates) to discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

General Membership Meeting on 7/19

YDHI Hosts Pau Hana Meet & Greet
The Young Democrats of Hawaii hosted a meet and greet in October at Oceans Nightclub at Restaurant Row. The event, which boasted nearly 200 attendees, was an opportunity for Hawaii’s young people to meet with candidates and elected officials before casting a ballot in the General Election on November 2. All four members of Hawaii’s congressional delegation stopped by, as did several candidates for State House and Honolulu City Council.
YDHI Volunteers at Golden Age Games
Over Memorial Day weekend, the Young Democrats of Hawaii joined with dozens of other community organizations in volunteering at the annual Veterans’ Golden Age Games, held this year at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. YDHI members helped with timing and scorekeeping at the competitive and exciting dominoes event.
YDHPU Hosts Meet & Greet
On April 7, the Young Democrats at HPU hosted Lieutenant Governor Brian Schatz, former Mayor Kirk Caldwell, and City Councilman Stanley Chang for a meet-and-greet at the HPU Sea Warrior Center in downtown Honolulu.
YDHI Supports Hawaii’s Labor Community at State Capitol Rally
YDHI Directors Jake Bradshaw and Tyler Dos Santos-Tam joined with dozens of Hawaii labor organizations and the Labor Caucus of the Hawaii Democratic Party to “Stand for Solidarity” at an April 4 rally at the State Capitol. The rally was part of a nationwide effort to demonstrate support for America’s working men and women.
